The fashion elite turned up the heat on the red carpet for the Fashion Awards and we couldn't be more thankful.

The Royal Albert Hall in London was the site of a star-studded event on Monday night celebrating creativity, innovation, design and all things fashion. The British Fashion Council launched a ceremony in 1989 to pay tribute to some of the fashion industry's most stalwart as well as up-and-coming talent.

In the lead-up to the awards, ELLE UK sat down with British and Jamaican activist and actor Jodie Turner-Smith, who was announced as the host of the event and said of the honor: "I started as a model, so to be asked to be part of this conversation,

Here is a list of the best moments from the fashion awards.

During the awards ceremony, guests were treated to emotional speeches, custom outfits and vintage designs, as well as performances from British trailblazers like Shy Girl and Jessie Ware.

In recognition of an international designer whose innovative collections have made a noticeable impact on the fashion industry and shaped the global fashion landscape, Pierpaolo Piccioli won the Designer of the Year Award for Valentino, beating the likes of Miuccia Prada and Matthieu Blazy.

It was the second time that Piccioli had won the award. The designer, who is synonymous with the 'Pink PP' shade of color that has dominated red carpets, was presented with his award by the actor Florence Pugh, who wore a burgundy red backless Valentino gown with a gigantic train for the occasion.

Pierpaolo said on the red carpet that he wants to use his voice even for people who don't have a voice. The model of the year.

The runway star was unable to attend the event due to illness but still delivered a touching speech via video from her NYC apartment.

After Carlos Nazario accepted the award on her behalf, she paid homage to her heritage. She said in a pre-recorded video that there's a sort of work ethic that runs in her family's blood.

Grace Wales Bonner was the winner of the award for her brand Wales Bonner.

The BFC Foundation Award was given to an emerging designer who has had a major impact on global fashion. The person is Rosaline Shahnavaz.

The winner of the BFC award, who spoke to ELLE UK backstage, described it as "Crazy".

He said it was amazing. I'm very proud. I'm happy. It's great to be celebrating British talent here with Mot & Chandon and it's even better to be celebrating London fashion.

Recognizing the next generation of fashion pioneers, the likes of Harris Reed and Sinéad Burke were honored for their efforts in their respective areas of creativity, environment, and people.

Reed told us how much the win meant to him after a year of career highs, which included being named creative director of Nina Ricci.

It means a lot because it feels like there is recognition for what I stand for, the voice that I have, and the voice that I hope to amplify for others. It doesn't feel real, but it is in his hands, he said.

How would he celebrate? A man is eating a burger while watching a show. It's a genius.

2 There is a tribute to the queen. The fashion industry paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II through a catwalk presentation titled 'the fashion salute show', which saw models wearing British brands such as Christopher Kane and Alexander McQueen.

The way in which the fashion industry came out in force after the Queen's passing was the most memorable fashion moment of the year, according to Max Harwood.

He said that London Fashion Week after the Queen's death was important because it showed what the fashion industry was capable of. Culture is important to keep people going.

3 Jodie Turner-Smith wore six outfits.

The host of the fashion awards stole the show on Monday night, wearing four on-stage outfits, one for the red carpet arrivals, and another for the after-party. The eyes were in for a treat.

The actor and activist graced the red carpet in a lime green Gucci gown made up of layers of tulle, before changing into an electric blue sequinned dress with a dramatic cape, styled with a black headpiece.

She wore a white one-shouldered ruffled gown, a white floor-length long-sleeved dress with cut-out detailing at the midriff, and a black lace Midi dress which she styled with a white stole while exiting the awards show. She wore a pink dress for the after-party at the firehouse.

5 There were many star-studded fashion performances. She was one of the most talked about performers at the fashion awards. The singer wore a custom 66 North dress and white jacket with a train behind her for the performance.

Ware wore a black floor-length gown before changing into a black dress on the red carpet.

6 Everyone was obsessed with the Prime Minister. The most popular star of the night was Swinton, who was dressed in a cape dress and coat.

The Special Recognition Award for Special Curation to Jefferson Hack was presented to Swinton by Turner-Smith after she joked about becoming Britain's next prime minister.

She told the audience to either come to Scotland or change the Prime Minister's name.

The backstage area had a  fashion Mot & Chandon vending machine and guests drank on miniature bottles of the bubbles all night.
